| M/S "Princess of
Scandinavia" av DFDS (De Forænede Damskibsselkab) av Danmark trafikkerer
ruten Gøteborg-Kristiansand-Newcastle og gir dermed et godt transporttilbud
mot Sverige såvel som Newcastle fra Kristiansand (Som konkurrerer med
Fjordlines Vestlandsrute utfra Stavanger til Newcastle. Kristiansand og
Stavanger er dermed alene om nonstop seilinger til Newcastle utfra Norge (2
ganger ukentlig fra Kristainsand, 3 ganger ukentlig fra Stavanger, i tillegg
til daglige flyforbindelser). Flyforbindelsene utfyller og muliggjør en
rekke bruksområder for Fjrodlines seilinger direkte Stavanger-Newcastle. De
siste tårene har jo vist hvordan flyforbindlser har gått fra å utgjøre
konkurranse til heller å bli skipenes 'beste frende'. Både M/S "Princess of Scandinavia" og M/S "Jupiter" (især førstnevnte) er endiog bygget for ganske høy servicehastighet. |
The M/S "Princess
of Scandinavia" owned and operated by DFDS of Denmark traficates the route
Gothenburg-Kristiansand-Newcastle. The service gives a valuable connection
from Southern-Norway to Swedens second largest city and Southern-Sweden as a
whole (Intra the half Isle of Scandinavia) asswell as a competing service to
Newcastle. The ship also of course gives some competition on services to
Newcastle. Stavanger and Kristiansand beeing the only Norwegian towns served
by nonstop services to Newcastle (Kristainsand twice a week, Stavanger three
times a week in addition to daily nonstop flights). The flights on
Stavanger-Newcastle allhough makes possible a wider variety of combinations.
The past years has of course seen how airtravel has gone from beeing
competitive to seatravel, to actually feeding ships with traffic. Both the M/S "Jupiter" and the M/S "Princess of Scandinavia" in particular are allhough built for quite high service speeds. Making them efficient ships. |
